3 Years

Has it really been 3 years??

I can still remember heading up to the hospital...well waddling would be the most proper term for it...to bring my first-born into the world.

It feels like it was yesterday.

But alas, 3 years have gone by.  And oh, what a fun 3 years it has been!

In 3 years, Thomas has grown and changed from a little baby to quite the big boy.

We've tackled some large accomplishments this year.

We've gained a little brother.

We've said goodbye to the paci and hello to a big boy bed.

Although at times we felt like we'd never get there, we're now almost completely independent when it comes to "bathroom stuff."

Thomas's vocabulary has grown at a tremendous rate.  Not only am I amazed at what he can say, I am amazed by the sentence structure he chooses and the grammatical techniques he uses. (Can you tell that I'm a speech therapist?)  He continues to keep us entertained by his musings and keeps our gray hair growing with his arguing and reasoning! =)

His moral character is also developing, which is a joy to watch.  He's instinctively kind and caring, he's thoughtful and respectful, he's a natural friend to others.  He's honest and trustworthy.  He loves God and strives to have a relationship with Him.  I think seeing these traits grow is by far the most rewarding from our perspective.

He's funny and loves to laugh.  He's beginning to understand jokes (much to our chagrin...better watch what we say now!) and clown around with the best of us.

He's such an amazing big brother to Evan.  While he's learned to share the attention that he once got all to himself, he's never shown any signs of jealousy and is very protective of his little brother.  Getting to observe their relationship grow is very heartwarming.

He started at a new school, in a new preschool class.  He's adjusted beautifully to the new environment and loves going to school.

Even though the past 3 years have flown by, not a day goes by that I am not thankful for him in my life and how he's blessed both Adam's and my life to the fullest degree.

Happy 3rd birthday Thomas!  And may your next 3++++ years be filled with unimaginable blessings and a whole lot of fun!

We love you!

A Blast of a Birthday!

We took a trip to space for Thomas's 3rd birthday...and it was a blast!

We had some space snacks.

We had cosmic crafts.

We had a "jumpin' Jupiter."

We had gifts galore!

We were so excited to have so many friends and family join us for this rockin' good time!

Happy 3rd birthday Thomas!  We know this next year is going to be a blast!

7 Months

7 months old.

Time is continuing to fly.

Still as cute as he can be.  Still so sweet.

Love, love, love this baby boy!

A Chef's Table Experience

I am a Food Network-aholic.

I love watching the cooking shows.  All of them.  It's a guilty pleasure.

I am in awe of the art of cooking and how flavors and textures are combined and presented in a beautiful way.

So needless to say, I was thrilled when my family had the opportunity to eat at one of our favorite restaurants, The Mabry House, and sit at the chef's table for my sister's 25th birthday in July.

It was such a neat experience!  We were given lots of courses...6 or 7, I think, and we were able to watch the chef prepare our meal and explain what inspired him about each meal.

It was an evening of great food and great company celebrating a great girl's birthday.  Happy Birthday Erin!!
